EN 16001 and ISO 50001
ENFORCE is the best approach to develop an efficient energy
management system (EnMS) for road transport and logistics companies and operations
and can be integrated according the EN 16001 standard.
The European Committee for Standardization (CEN) developed the EN 16001 standard
which came into force in July 2009.
EN 16000 defines standardised EU-
management system
A similar international standard is currently being developed by the ISO. This global standard ISO 50001 for EnMS is expected to be released later this year.
Both standards require organisations to establish an appropriate energy policy, identify the significant energy uses arising from the organization's activities;
identify applicable legal requirements, identify priorities and set appropriate energy objectives and targets and to establish a relevant structure to achieve objectives and meet
targets.
