Green Logistics Consultants Group

The Green Logistics Consultants Group is an international collaborative network of supply chain consultants with a general or specific expertise in areas where companies and/or local and national governments can improve the environmental performance of their supply chains or transport infrastructure.


Objectives
of the Green Logistics Group are (1) the promotion of the importance of a green logistics policy or sustainable supply chain among companies, (local) authorities and the general public, (2) the promotion of the added value of green logistics consultants to launch and accelerate the implementation process of effective sustainable logistical measures and (3) to develop and share calculation tools and best practices.

The focus is on an accurate, complete, consistent and transparent measurement of energy consumption, greenhouse gas emissions and other air contaminants and on a wide range of solutions to reduce energy use and emissions.

Activities of the Green Logistics Consultants Group are :

  • to actively promote a sustainable logistics approach;

  • to accelerate the adoption of a green logistics policy by the industry and authorities;

  • to develop and share best practices, check lists, handbooks, information etc.;

  • to centralise and disseminate information and knowledge;

  • to foster international cooperation and co-ordination with the objective to (i) agree a worldwide accepted framework for the calculation of emissions of goods transport and supply chains and (ii) to create harmonised databases with international and national information on emissions factors and logistics data.

  • to provide networking events and seminars;

  • to provide training to our consultants;

  • to create international and regional clusters of expertise;

  • to encourage a common approach and collaboration between its partners;

  • to establish green logistics awards and certification programs;

  • to strengthen contacts with leading institutes and the government;

  • to promote research in sustainable supply chains and the funding of it;

  • to promote the services of our consultants and their companies.
